The vast majority of modern computers include a firewall that is already configured. This software prevents unwanted connections from sending unwanted information to (or from) your computer. As the Sora Stream app requires to continously receive the game image, as well as to send data about the keystrokes in order to interact with the game, these firewalls can block or hinder the app's normal operation. If you have issues when opening a game, or notice that the image quality is not quite good, please try adding an exception to your firewall. Please continue reading if you want to know how to do it when the firewall is already installed by default in the latest versions of Windows. However, keep in mind that these steps may change if you have other antivirus software installed, such as McAfee, AVG or Norton. If your computer is connected to a corporate network or through a VPN, you may need to contact your administrator to set up either your computer or the network you are connected to.
Instructions for setting up an exception to your Windows firewall:
1. Press the Windows button on your keyboard.
2. Type "wf.msc" in the search bar and hit Enter. For Windows 10 users, you can type directly without selecting the search bar.
3. Select "Inbound Rules" from the left menu, and then "New Rule" on the right.
4. Leave the "Program" option selected and then click "Next".
5. When asked to select the program path, enter the following text:
%ProgramFiles% (x86)\SoraStreamClient\Software\ssclient-windows.exe
*This path may change if you selected another folder while installing Sora Stream.
6. In the next window, make sure that you check "Allow the connection". Afterwards, you can continue with the set up by leaving the default options.
7. Once this rule has been entered, you will have to repeat the process by selecting “Outbound Rules” in the left menu and “New rule…” in the right menu.
8. When finished, you may close the window.
*It might be necessary to restart your computer after the firewall has been set up.
